Thanks for that, Asher. We hung out on the couch and listened after Cody went to bed. It must have felt weird to preach alone, but those were words a lot of us needed, I know. We miss getting to see our Communitas family!
Thanks so much for saying that Steph! It was honestly a little less weird than I expected - I think because I knew I was still sharing God’s word to all of you even if I couldn’t see you!
Thanks man for doing this. It was good to slow down, focus on Christ's work in our day-to-day, and not look for "cupcake" moments that are beyond what God's plans for us. Thank you.
Sure thing Aaron - really glad that it was helpful for you brother! That book “Jesus through Middle Eastern Eyes” was really helpful for me to understand this prayer better and really has transformed the way I approach God!
Frank and I just listened, Asher. Two ideas really stuck with me: 1) The Bible is rich enough and deep enough to require serious study all our lives. We should not be surprised by that. That depth doesn’t make it less true. (I think this was just an aside really, but meaningful to me.) 2) Pray your fear. Pray your emotion. I am definitely a “stuffer,” so I want to take this to heart.
Wow Barb - I love seeing what you got out of God’s word in this moment. I am SO grateful to have you in our community!
Asher, thanks for looking at bread vs. cupcakes, focusing on the strength of the Lord's prayer and the ongoing richness of biblical stories.
Your ability to connect with people is a unique gift. You are in the right place as a pastor. Fill your cup man because you are definitely filling others'.
